Nap Transition

Ian is experiencing some "technical difficulties" if you will. At 11 months he began showing some signs of needing to drop from two naps to one. He would sleep amazingly well for his morning nap, but the afternoon would be hit-or-miss. Most of the time he would either cry and then only sleep 45 minutes at the most. I began to adjust his schedule a bit and that seemed to help for a while.

Over the past couple of months he has basically refused an afternoon nap unless it is SUPER late in the day. I am talking 4 p.m. which is simply too close to bedtime! The Baby Whisperer suggests an approach that takes approximately one month or longer depending on the baby. Essentially, you put the baby down for the morning nap later and later each day so that it begins to blend in to the afternoon nap time. This creates one long nap! The approach is more gradual than I would like, but giving it up cold turkey just didn't work. I tried to shorten the morning nap, but it still didn't work. I mean, I gave it several days and these approaches did not give me the desired results!

Hopefully The Baby Whisperer has it down! I will let you know! We are on day two of the phase out and so far we are the same as before:(

Our Painted Family Room

Well, I recently painted our family room a light blue. I love the blue and brown combination and so that is what I did!

14 months!

I can't believe that Ian is 14 months old today! The time has absolutely flown by! Every time I look at our little man, I say "where did my baby go?" I try to hold him like I did when he was a newborn, but he doesn't stay still. He is a toddler now I guess! Well, almost a toddler.

What is Ian up to these days you ask? Well, he isn't walking yet; however he is able to walk while pushing a toy. I didn't walk until I was 16 months old so I guess he is following in my footsteps! Haha! No pun intended! He says a ton of words.

Anything with wheels is a car these days! He says yogurt, "goga", waffle "wawa", "hi", please "seee", Go Dog Go (PD Eastman's book) "go go go", door "dah", "dada", "mama" and he asks for bananas "nana". He does even more animal sounds like lion, cat, chicken, snake, and cow. He loves to sway his hand, pointer finger extended, and say "no no". He has learned that from Matt and me! Ian signs "more" and "milk" and blows kisses! Wow! That's a lot of stuff!

He is growing like a weed!! We love our boy!
